Ebony Golden

a poem

hocking a wedding ring

dime store orbit
plastic sapphire
lodged against labyrinth
red metal cool on finger
                        holds more weight
than your promise jewel

you are a vibeless trinket   flash
of some south african’s salty flesh
lung pinched for this    insanity

apricot croissants
a film where acrobat tongues
sweet talk me butter thin
some sweet disco thigh
rub a  french talking noir
you are deep gut laughs that
catch the ear of an old continent

i kept you longer
than i kept the man

pawn shop mistress
say 77 dollars
she got big bones
wide flat tipped fingers

sometimes
no black eyes
no fist to skull
imprints   only whispers
in the night that wring the melody
out of throats

how malleable is your protection amulet
insistent charm
shackle
binding contract
spherical prison
mythical reality
guardian talisman
for all this
keep yo damn rib

you tried to perm my pussy hairs
bucked against your chin
she knew you were not honest
hot comb eyes pressed against
pubic flesh like a last ditch mantra
for salvation

i imagine
some earthling
among silt and nile
declarations  papyrus
reed   sedge   rush
smithing for the sista pharaoh
his hands articulate
obtuse as moonless sky

only the sweetest sternest
sprouts will do

i can see him
a mingling of bended
knee questioning eye taut
spine
            a whole body crafted
into her gateways potential key

she is aware
of his attempts to capture
her saliva portal

cast him out to the driest crust of the sahara
burn the metallurgy artifice
my destiny and my offspring are my own

like a wad of phlegm
lodged in waterless
mouth wedged between
gag and last nights dinner
you gotta come out
you are of better use
on somebodys curb
succumb to the elements male
be flaked off by the sun

when one sleeps
with fairy tale
she awakens with a nose high
on pixie dust
